Will journal impact factors be added to Dimensions?
Edited
Dimensions does not include journal impact factors, but instead uses article-level metrics.
The journal impact factor (JIF) of an academic journal is a measure reflecting the yearly average number of citations to recent articles published in that journal, and is frequently used as a proxy for the relative importance of a journal within its field. The impact factor cannot always be consistently reproduced in independent audits, and there is an ongoing debate regarding the validity of the impact factor as a measure of journal importance and the effect of policies that journal editors may adopt to boost their impact factor.
